Reading vs Nottingham Forest Predictions
Reading were 1-0 winners at Bolton on Saturday but it was a fairly unconvincing victory given they had a 1 man advantage against the league’s bottom club for 70 minutes. Only a brilliant stoppage time goal from Ola John spared Reading’s blushes and the result lifted Reading above this week’s opponents Nottingham Forest and into 13th place. They had gone 5 matches without a win prior to that and they haven’t won at the Madejski since a 1-0 win over Rotherham in February.
Their form is still better than that of Nottingham Forest, who have completely gone off the boil. The departure of Dougie Freedman doesn’t seem to have done them any favours and their 3-0 home loss to struggling Brentford at the weekend was their 6th defeat in the space of 9 matches. The East Midlands side are 9 points above the relegation zone though and aren’t in any sort of danger but an uninspiring end to a pretty uninspiring season awaits them.
The way Forest have been playing of late means you’d be inclined to fancy Reading to win at 23/20 here. They are unbeaten at home in the Championship in 2016 and although they’ve drawing more than they’ve been winning, they should have enough to edge this with Forest not carrying much of an attacking threat. The visitors have the 2nd worst goalscoring record in the league and have started conceding plenty too which is a really ominous sign and they will need to do some rebuilding this summer, that is for sure.
