Real Sociedad are probably the most frustrating team in La Liga to watch. Over the past month they’ve bounced back from a home defeat to Las Palmas with fine wins away to Sevilla and at home to Barcelona. Therefore you’d have thought they’d have coped with a trip to their badly out of form neighbours Eibar easily enough but another abject display saw them fall to a 2-1 defeat and fans of La Real are once again left scratching their heads. Real Sociedad have pulled off some of the most impressive wins of the season but inconsistency has haunted them throughout and they are heading for a mid-table finish.

This game is of much more importance to Getafe, who are in serious danger of dropping out of the top flight. They are left propping up the table after their 5-1 defeat at home to Real Madrid in new manager Juan Esnáider’s first game in charge at the weekend. They have picked up just 2 points from their last 13 league matches, losing all of their last 7 on the road and with only 4 games left after this one, they are fast running out of matches in which to save themselves.

Even by Real Sociedad’s standards of struggling in the supposed easier games, they really ought to be winning this. Getafe have conceded 2 or more goals in all of their last 7 away games and 12 of the last 13. Judging by their defensive performance against Los Blancos, the new manager hasn’t made any significant improvements in that sense and he’ll have had little time to work on things ahead of this midweek game. Sociedad have been beaten just once at home in 2016 and got the better of Barcelona last time out at the Anoeta so backing them to score 2 or more goals at 8/13 against bottom club Getafe should be a safe bet.
