Rosario Central vs Boca Juniors Predictions

  • Currently unbeaten in 4 matches and in 8th place, Rosario Central will be looking to sign 2019 off with a good result prior to the Christmas break.
  • Unbeaten in an impressive 7 matches against Boca, the hosts have every reason to be confident.
  • League leading Boca will be looking to end their recent struggles against Central and ensure they end the year top of the Superliga.

Central looking to frustrate Boca once again

Though they’ve made a good start to the season, taking 23 points from 15 games, Rosario Central can’t afford to take their foot off the gas. Indeed, the side are still in a degree of danger in the average points table used to relegate sides and need to continue picking up results from now until the end of the season.

Prior to a 1-1 draw away at Central Cordoba last time out, Central managed to win 3 games in a row. Nonetheless, they’ve been something of a draw specialist in the action we’ve seen so far, recording a league high total of 8 draws, a sequence they won’t be looking to add to here, with 3 points the target.

Boca hungry for 3 points

As is the case in every game they play, Boca Juniors will only be travelling to Rosario with 3 points in behind. Dethroned by Racing Club last season, winning the Superliga title once again is a big objective for the side and they are currently on the right path, top of the table with 29 points from 15 games.

Nonetheless, although they are unbeaten in 4 games, Boca have been dropping points a bit too often in recent matches and have now won just 2 of their last 6 league outings. Coupled with their typical struggles against the hosts, it certainly won’t be an easy win for the visitors if they are to secure it.

Central to deny Boca victory

Ultimately, this looks set to be a very tight and competitive game. Boca are undoubtedly the stronger of the two on paper but Central are proving very hard to beat this season and the Estadio Gigante de Arroyito is not an easy place to visit.

All things considered, we see good value in backing Sunday’s game to end in a draw and are more than happy to do so. The last two games between the sides have ended all square, both sides drew 1-1 in their last respective fixtures and given that scoreline has been seen in 6 of Central’s 8 league draws this season, it all has to be fancied to be repeated this weekend.
