Sampdoria vs Lazio Predictions

Sampdoria and Lazio are both going to finish safely in mid-table in Serie A this year, so on the face of it there is little riding on this end-of-season affair at Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday. But Lazio have seen an upturn in their form since the sacking of Stefano Pioli in the wake of a derby day thrashing at the hands of Roma, so their Simone Inzaghi will be hoping for a high level of performances for the last four games of the season.

It has been a difficult campaign for Sampdoria, who have picked up some eye-catching results but have found consistency hard to come by. Sampdoria recently looked to have turned a corner with a fine 2-0 win against Udinese, but they have not even scored in the two games they have played since that match.

Games between these sides tend to be tight – the reverse fixture earlier in the season ended in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico – and it is unlikely it will be a thrilling, high-scoring match this time either. Sampdoria’s last six games have all seen under 2.5 goals, while only two of the last ten meetings between the sides have featured over 2.5 goals.

Judging off the head-to-head record, Under 2.5 Goals at 4/5 with Betfair looks like a very solid bet for this mid-table clash, while another 1-1 Draw can be backed at 11/2 with Betfair and looks a decent choice from the correct score market.
