Shamrock Rovers vs Bray Wanderers Predictions

Shamrock’s season hasn’t gone as well as they would’ve hoped, while their recent form isn’t too encouraging either. The South Dublin side have won just one of their last six matches, though they’ve only lost two. What’s more, this match, against lowly Bray, presents Stephen Bradley’s men with an excellent opportunity to regain the winning thread after they lost against Dundalk last time out.

If Shamrock’s season hasn’t exactly gone to plan, then it’s fair to say that Bray’s season has been a total disaster. Saturday’s visitors are currently bottom of the pile and are no less than seven points behind the team above them. They did regain the winning thread last time out against a St Patricks side who’ve struggled away from home, though that was their first win in a month, while they’ve lost each of their last ten on the road.

Shamrock may be having a reasonably tough season, but they’ve only got to look at Bray to realise things aren’t going so badly. As touched on above, this is a huge chance for the hosts, who’ve acquitted themselves reasonably well on home soil, to resume winning ways.

Although their season isn’t going swimmingly, only the current top three have shown better form at home than Shamrock. The hosts have only lost three of their 11 matches at Tallaght Stadium, while they’ve scored plenty of goals. With 24 home goals to their name, which is an average of 2.18 per home match, Saturday’s hosts are currently the divisions’ third highest scorers on home soil. Such a stat bodes well ahead of a game against the worst defence in the league.

Not only have Shamrock scored plenty of goals in general on their own patch, but they’ve done very well against the poorer teams. When Bray visited Tallaght earlier in the season, Shamrock sent them packing by scoring six and conceding none. A repeat of that performance would likely see the hosts once come out on top in convincing fashion.

In addition to Shamrock’s positive form at home, Bray have been nothing short of abysmal on their travels this season. The visitors, who’ve managed to accumulate just a single point on the road, come into this match with what is by far the worst away record in the division. With a goal difference on -32 away from home, it’s easy to see the hosts running riot.

Interestingly, Bray have conceded three of more in six of their 11 away matches in the league this season.

With the away form of the visitors in mind, alongside their last performance at this venue, backing ‘Shamrock to Score Over 2.5 Goals’ is a hard bet to resist.
