Sheffield United vs Gillingham Predictions
Sheffield United came crashing back down to earth last Saturday when losing 4-1 at Walsall, just when it seemed as though they may be well on their way to wrapping up the League One title. However, despite this loss, they remain one of the league top teams and, against a Gillingham side in poor form, can bounce back in front of their own fans.
At odds of 1/1, ‘Sheffield United to Win & Over 2.5 Goals’ is the bet to go for here. It’s hard to go against the hosts, while Gillingham have seemingly made a habit of losing high-scoring matches on the road.
Sheffield United may have lost last time out, but their home record is particularly hard to argue with. The Blades have become known as one of fiercest attacking sides in League One this season and could so easily prove it yet again against the weak-looking back-line of Gillingham. At their own ground the hosts have won ten of their 13 matches (five of which saw ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ land) and are currently on a three game winning streak.
It’s been an up and down season for Gillingham, with many of those downs coming on the road. Playing away from home has yielded little joy for the visitors, with them winning just three of their 14 away matches and they come into this fixture without a win in any of their last five on the road (losing four of those). On top of this, seven of Gillingham’s nine away defeats have seen at least three goals go in.
Despite recording their first defeat in some time last weekend, Sheffield United have more than enough quality to resume winning ways against a Gillingham team who’re out of form right now and are fancied to do so in good-scoring fashion.
