Sheffield Wednesday vs Brighton Predictions
This is one of the stand-out fixtures this weekend in the Championship and is a repeat of last season’s play-off semi-final. Wednesday’s 2-0 1st Leg win at Hillsborough set up a 3-1 aggregate win and ended what had been a wonderful campaign from Brighton, on a sour note. Fast-forward a few months and both teams look to be well-placed to make a strong promotion challenge again.
The Seagulls are 1 point better off than Wednesday and have taken 10 points from their last 4 league games. They could only draw 0-0 at Ipswich in midweek but had seen off Huddersfield, Burton and Barnsley prior to that. This will be one of their toughest examinations of the season though as they look to end a long winless streak against the South Yorkshire club and go into the international break on a real high.
Wednesday come into this one full of confidence though having won 4 of their last 5 league games to shoot up the table after a fairly unconvincing start. They were 1-0 winners at Blackburn in midweek to pick up their first away win in almost 6 months but as was the case last term, it is their home record that has been most impressive. They’ve had to leave it very late on several occasions though and have netted stoppage time winners in their last two outings at Hillsborough.
It’s 4 wins out of 5 at home in the league this term for the Owls and Brighton have once again looked a bit unconvincing on the road, with just 1 win coming at newly promoted Burton. They’ve been getting results but a record of just 3 goals scored in 5 away league matches this term needs to be improved on. Given all that and the recent history of the fixture, which strongly favours the Owls, backing Sheffield Wednesday 0.0 Asian Handicap at 1.775 looks to offer the best value here.
