Sheffield Wednesday vs Cardiff Betting Tips & Predictions

Apart from the titanic tussle for automatic promotion amongst the top three, there is only one issue left to be settled in the Championship and that is who will take the final play-off place. It will be one of these two sides and if Cardiff don’t win at Hillsborough on Saturday it will be Sheffield Wednesday. If the Bluebirds pick up all 3 points it will go down to the final day so this is a season-defining game for both clubs.

The Owls may feel they should have wrapped up their place in the play-offs by now. Their last 4 games have ended in a 4-1 defeat at Bristol City and 3 draws. They’ve failed to see off Ipswich and MK Dons in their last two games at home but did get a good point at Derby in their last match. Having lost just 1 of their last 21 home games they’ll be confident of at least getting the draw they need to secure a top 6 finish.

Their confidence will also be boosted by Cardiff’s disappointing form which has let the Owls off the hook in truth. They’d gone 4 matches without a win heading into last weekend’s home game with bottom club Bolton. They made hard work of that too needing a last minute winner to see off their already relegated opponents who played with 10 men for an hour.

The fact that Cardiff have to win should lead to quite an open game as they have no choice but to attack the Owls, who have been fairly adventurous too this season and certainly won’t just sit back and hope for a draw. Both teams have scored in 4 of Wednesday’s last 5 matches and in 3 of Cardiff’s last 4 so we could well see a few goals in this and backing both teams to score at 17/20 looks good here.
