Shkendija vs Gent Predictions

Shkendija qualified for the Europa League after finishing in 2nd place in the Macedonian First League, giving them a place in the first round of qualifying. They’ve since knocked out Cracovia 4-1, Neftci 1-0 and finally Mlada Boleslav 2-1 to reach the play-off round. These are not easy sides to beat, so the tiny Macedonian side can be very pleased with their progression.

Gent had an easier route to the play-off round, starting in the 3rd qualifying round after a 3rd place finish in the Belgian Pro League. They knocked out Vitorul of Romania with a 5-0 home win and 0-0 draw away from home.

Shkendija had a fantastic end to last season, winning all their last 5 home games, scoring 15 and conceding 2. They’ve continued this form in to the new season at home, winning all 4 games, 3 in the Europa League and one in the Macedonian league, only conceding once in all 4 games.

Gent had a poor end to the season away from home, winning 2 and losing 3 of their last 5 games. Gent have started the new season in decent form, winning both their home games and drawing both of their away games, but have only won 1, drawn 3 and lost 1 of their last 5 competitive away games.

Shkendija were never expected to reach this stage of qualifying, but with the performance they put in last week and their incredible home form, we expect them to get a result from this match. We think that Shkendija Double Chance (Win or Draw) at 4/5 is great value and are expecting a 1-0 win for the home side at 11/1 to see them through to the group stages on away goals.
