Southampton vs Liverpool Betting Tips & Predictions

Southampton managed to break out of their three match winless streak last weekend when they got two first half goals against Stoke to help them on their way to a 2-1 win at the Britannia, but they didn’t perform particularly well apart from their goals.

Before this they had failed to beat Sunderland on home turf and lost to Chelsea and Bournemouth, with these results severely denting their chances of qualifying for Europe. They now sit in 7th position in the Premier League, three points behind Manchester United in 6th and five points off West Ham in 5th. Both of these sides have a game in hand too.

Liverpool have two games in hand on Southampton, and they’re occupying the 8th position just below Southampton and only behind on goal difference. A win here could send them level on points with Manchester United, and they would still have a game in hand on them.

This wouldn’t be good news for Manchester United, who will be sick of the sight of their north west rivals after being knocked out of the Europa League to them in midweek. Liverpool earned a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford to win the tie 3-1 on aggregate, results which make it five wins and three draws in their last eight matches in all competitions. It looks like Jurgen Klopp’s tactics at Liverpool have been a success.

Away from home they have won two and drawn two of their last four, and they will be in high spirits coming into this game.
