Stoke vs Newcastle Predictions
Stoke managed to break out of their losing streak a couple of weekends ago when they beat Bournemouth 3-1 away from home, and they followed this up with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Saturday. Their excellent run of form in the middle of the season left them with a bit of a cushion to play with in the table though, and despite picking up just one point from their four Premier League games prior to their two wins they still occupy a respectable 8th position in the Premier League. They are actually only five points adrift of 5th placed Manchester United and the possibility of playing in Europe next season.
Newcastle have slightly different priorities. They occupy the first of the relegation positions and sit behind Norwich on goal difference. They have been improving recently, and with games against fellow relegation candidates Bournemouth, Sunderland, and Norwich coming up Steve McClaren will feel that his team have a good chance of staying up.
I don’t think this game will help them though. They have lost their last six competitive matches on the road and have only picked up seven points on the road all season. Stoke, on the other hand, have won three of their last five Premier League games at the Britannia and have only lost once.
Add this to the fact that Stoke have won their last three home matches against Newcastle and I think the hosts have a great chance of picking up another three points on Wednesday. Odds of 19/20 look really attractive too, as do 17/2 for a 2-1 correct score prediction.
