Stuttgart to Win and Over 1.5 Match Goals
Stuttgart vs Nurnberg Predictions
- Nurnberg haven’t won since beating Hannover back in late September. They’ve now gone eight games (in all competitions) without a win.
- Only one team in the division has scored more away goals than Nurnberg this season.
- Stuttgart have had more touches in the opposition penalty area than any other 2. Bundesliga team this season.
Home comforts suit Stuttgart
Stuttgart still haven’t established themselves as the top dogs in this division, but they’re moving closer to the top and are now just three points shy of the automatic promotion places.
Their form on the road is a bit of a worry and will certainly have to improve if Monday’s hosts are to cement themselves as a top-two team, but fortunately, their efforts at home have been very good. Stuttgart have won six out of eight at Mercedes-Benz Arena, including each of their last two, both of which saw them net three goals.
A repeat of either of their last two attacking performances at this venue would surely be enough to see off a Nurnberg side that has leaked plenty of goals on the road.
Nurnberg blighted by travelling defence
Overall, Monday’s visitors aren’t enjoying a good campaign. They would’ve been hoping to bounce straight back to the Bundesliga, but as they’re down in a lowly 16th place, returning to the top division at the first time of asking is going to be beyond them.
Nurnberg’s travelling efforts have been very up and down. Going forward, they’ve been very effective, scoring no less than 14 goals in seven away games. Only one team in the entire division has notched more on the road than Monday’s visitors. However, at the other end, Nurnberg have struggled big time, shipping 13.
Somewhat strangely, Nurnberg have kept three clean sheets on their travels, which means the 13 goals they’ve conceded have come in four games. When they do concede, the flood gates tend to open, which doesn’t bode well ahead of a match against one of the best attacking teams in the division.
Hosts to take advantage of defensive weakness
When we consider the recent attacking performances of Stuttgart at this venue, it’s easy to feel they’ll have far too much in the locker for a visiting team that has struggled at the back. Not only have Stuttgart made a habit of winning home games, they’ve scored at least twice in six out of eight.
Combine this with Nurnberg’s defensive record and the fact they’ve claimed an average of just 1.14 points on the road, compared to Stuttgart’s average of 2.25 at home, and backing the hosts to do the business appeals.
‘Correct Score’ punters can try a 2-1 win for the hosts, who for all their attacking qualities do tend to concede the odd goal at home, shipping exactly one on five occasions.
