Sunderland vs Chelsea Predictions
Sam Allardyce has turned Sunderland’s fortunes around in terms of results, but the Black Cats still can’t see to pick up a win from anywhere. They have only lost one of their last eight outings in the Premier League, but six draws during this run leaves them in the bottom three.
They are only a point from safety and have a game in hand over their arch rivals Newcastle in the safe zone above them, but they desperately need to find a win from somewhere.
Chelsea managed to do their job on Monday night when they stopped Spurs from winning at Stamford Bridge to snatch the Premier League title away from them and hand it to Leicester. Chelsea may be relinquishing the title after a dismal defence of it this season, but they can at least take heart from the fact they personally stopped their London rivals taking the trophy from them.
They performed very well in the second half after a bit of a slow start in terms of quality, and in the end their 2-2 draw can be classed as a good result to follow on from their 4-1 thrashing of Bournemouth last time out.
This puts it at nine goals scored in Chelsea’s last two matches, and you can add that to a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, a 4-0 win over Aston Villa, and another 2-2 draw with West Ham to find a team who are looking in a very attacking frame of mind at the moment.
Five of their last six matches have seen at least three goals scored in them, and with Sunderland desperate for a victory I can see this game opening up and resulting in a few goals as well. Odds of 4/5 for Over 2.5 Goals look good to me, so I’m backing that along with a 2-1 win for the visitors at 17/2.
