Swansea vs Hull Predictions

Swansea managed to get off to a flyer in the Premier League last weekend when they beat the newly promoted Burnley away from home, courtesy of Leroy Fer’s first goal since signing for the South Wales outfit. It did take until the 82nd minute though, and in general they looked to be lacking something.

There has been a huge shift in Swansea over the summer, with long term captain Ashley Williams leaving the defence in turmoil and a host of attacking players leaving. Eder, Alberto Paloschi, Bafetimbi Gomis, and Andre Ayew have all left the club, with only Fernando Llorente and club record signing Borja Baston coming the other way.

The latter of these is hoping to make his debut on Saturday following his £18 million move from Atletico Madrid, but it still leaves Swansea dangerously lacking in striking options. An injury to him and Llorente would leave them without a first team striker, and it’s for that reason that they are expected to struggle this term after their poor campaign last season.

Swansea will feel confident coming into this match though. Their strikers are fit and they’re playing against a Hull side who are desperately low on first team players. They have a host of injury concerns at the back, with goalkeeper Allan McGregor out along with four defenders. Ryan Taylor, Mohamed Diame, and Sone Aluko all left in the summer as well to leave Hull with just 13 first team players available for their opening game of the season.

Somehow, they managed to utilise these 13 players to great effect as they beat Premier League champions Leicester 2-1 at home, thanks to goals from Adama Diomande and Robert Snodgrass.

However, as the season progresses their lack of options on the pitch is likely to cause them a lot of issues, and I don’t expect them to have a good time on Saturday either. Swansea are in high spirits at the moment and shouldn’t have many issues without Williams at the back at home against sure fire relegation candidates Hull. I’m expecting the hosts to get the win, and odds of 8/11 for this outcome look fair to me. I’m going for a 1-0 correct score prediction at 5/1 as well.
