Swindon vs Exeter Predictions
- Swindon have won 10 of their 15 home league games this season.
- Swindon have won 5 of their last 6 home games, scoring an average of 2.33 goals a game in the process.
- 4 of Exeter’s 5 defeats this season in League 2 have came on the road.
Swindon looking to stay top
After an underwhelming mid-table finish last term, Swindon have put in a fantastic campaign to date and look on course for promotion to League One. After 29 matches, the side find themselves top of the pile with 56 points to their name and this weekend’s clash represents the chance to put down a real marker, with nearest rivals Exeter in town.
Extremely impressive at The County Ground, Swindon have no reason to be apprehensive heading into Saturday’s game and will undoubtedly be targeting 3 points. Indeed, Town have won 10 of their 15 home league matches this season and having won 5 of their last 6 in front of the home crowd, they are looking as strong as ever.
Exeter hoping to go top
Meanwhile, Exeter are hoping this is the season they finally make it out of League Two and thus far, the signs are good. City have definitely been one of the more impressive outfits in the division this season and that’s reflected in the standings as they head into the weekend stationed in 2nd place with 54 points from 29 matches.
That being said, Exeter lost 3-1 away at Port Vale in midweek and that hardly provides great preparation for what will be an extremely difficult trip to Wiltshire. 4 of Exeter’s 5 league defeats this term have came on the road and it’s fair to say they do have to be considered slight underdogs in this fixture.
Swindon’s home advantage could be the difference
Ultimately, although both teams are looking very strong and have played in highly impressive manners, you do have to fancy Swindon more than Exeter in this meeting. On paper, there’s not much between the two but Swindon are excellent at home and with Exeter arriving off the back of an away defeat, the hosts’ prospects look bright.
All things considered, we like the look of backing a Swindon win and feel it’s by far the best way to play as far as the betting is concerned. Swindon are close to unstoppable as hosts at the moment and although it’ll likely be a highly competitive game, we fancy them to run out narrow 2-1 winners.
