Telstar vs FC Oss Predictions
Telstar welcome FC Oss to Rabobank Ijmond Stadion this Friday, and the hosts will be seeking to kick start their campaign after suffering four defeats from their first six Eerste Divisie outings this season. It won’t be easy for Mike Snoei’s side though, with visitors FC Oss in good nick having lost just once in their opening half dozen games.
Telstar comfortably made the Play-offs last term after securing a 6th place finish, but they’ve taken several steps back this season based on what we’ve seen thus far.
Mike Snoei’s team were extremely difficult to beat in 2017/18, losing just nine of their 38 league fixtures, but already they’ve been bested on four occasions this time around.
Away defeats to RKC (1-0) and Cambuur (2-0) alongside home reversals against MVV (0-1) and FC Twente (1-3) mean Telstar currently sit 14th in the league standings, and any hopes of reaching the Play-offs again this season are likely to hinge on them winning one of the four league periods, as they’re already a significant way behind the top five clubs.
A midweek exit to AFC Amsterdam in the Dutch Cup could turn out to be a blessing for Telstar as they seek to climb up the table, but confidence and belief will be low heading into Friday’s match having gone out 5-0 to the part timers.
Like last season, FC Oss have again started the new campaign well and they’ll be determined not to tamely drop away as they did in 2017/18.
Manager Klaas Wels has done a great job with his team so far, and they currently find themselves just two points outside of the Play-offs in 7th having won three and drawn two of their opening six league games.
Back to back 0-0 draws with Volendam and Sparta suggest FC Oss may be losing their initial spark however, and they could find it tough to get past a Telstar outfit who they’ve drawn four times with in the last six meetings.
Both league encounters ended in a draw last season, and with the hosts likely to be keeping things tight as they try to steady the ship rocked by those three consecutive losses, we fancy the teams to play out another stalemate on match day seven.
This isn’t one that jumps off the fixture list this Friday, and defence is likely to win out over attack, maintaining the trend of Oss’ recent games. Alongside the draw, we’ll also go for a 1-1 score line, which wouldn’t rate as a bad result for either team.
