Tianjin Tianhai vs Shandong Luneng Predictions

The season has started off with two defeats for Tianjin Tianhai and after losing star striker Pato earlier in the month, this really has been a disappointing start to the new season. Visitors Shandong Luneng remain unbeaten after their first two games with four points, which is even more impressive considering they have been playing midweek matches in the Champions League as well.

Tianjin took the lead in the third minute through Renatinho in their last match away at Shenzhen, but it proved to be a false dawn as two goals in stoppage time for the hosts saw Tianjin leave empty handed. Shandong Luneng came from two goals behind against Kashima Antlers in the Champions League last time out, with Italian striker Pellè scoring a brace to rescue a point for the hosts.

The head to head record between these two clubs and their performances over the last six matches, all point towards goals being scored in this game by both teams. Both teams have scored in three of the four meetings between these two clubs, and over 2.5 goals have been scored in two of those encounters. Both teams have scored in four of Tianjin Tianhai’s and five of Shandong Luneng’s last six matches, while five of the hosts’ and the visitors’ last six matches have produced over 2.5 goals. Both teams have kept just one clean sheet each in their last six matches, and we don’t envisage either team keeping one on Sunday either.

Brazilian Renatinho is the only player to have scored in the opening two league games for the hosts, while his fellow countryman Roger Guedes is on two CSL goals for the visitors. We’re confident that both teams will score and that over 2.5 goals will be produced in Sunday’s match, and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-2. The visitors arrive unbeaten in the league and have proved hard to beat in the Champions League as well, while their hosts have suffered defeats in their first two games. However, both teams have been scoring and conceding on a regular basis and we expect that to continue this weekend.
