Toronto FC vs New England Revolution Predictions

Toronto FC endured a really tough season last year as they failed to even make the playoffs in the MLS Eastern Conference, and with star striker Sebastian Giovinco heading off to Asia this season could be a defining one for the Canadians.

Giovinco was undoubtedly their most talented player, but they still have the excellent Jozy Altidore up front to grab the goals. Combine that with the experienced Michael Bradley and Jonathan Osorio in midfield and you have the makings of a very good team. Off-season acquisition Laurent Ciman is a big boost in defence as well.

Toronto FC have only played one MLS game so far this season, but in that 90 minutes we saw a much better team than we did for the majority of last season. They beat Philadelphia Union 3-1 away from home, which is actually their first away win in the league since July.

New England Revolution also found themselves outside the Eastern Conference playoffs last term, Brad Friedel has been making moves to try and remedy that situation in his second season in the hot seat.

They have signed attack minded players in Carles Gil and Juan Caicedo, while keeping hold of Diego Fagundez as well. So far we haven’t seen much evidence of this attacking spirit though.

Last weekend they lost 2-0 at home to Columbus Crew, following on from a draw away to FC Dallas which did at least see Gil open his account in the MLS. Even so, it’s not been the most promising of starts for the Revs, and they’re facing a talented side in Toronto FC on Sunday.

The visitors have won just one of their last 16 MLS away matches, and their last 11 have resulted in seven defeats. Toronto FC, for all their faults last season, have still picked up three points in four of their last six MLS games at BMO Field. For this reason, backing a Toronto FC win looks a great option this weekend along with a 3-1 correct score prediction.
