Toronto FC vs Whitecaps Betting Tips & Predictions

Toronto FC played a long overdue home match last weekend when the BMO Field was occupied by them and FC Dallas for the first time this season. Their 1-0 win against Dallas was a welcome return to action in Toronto.

This followed on from eight consecutive away matches for Toronto FC, and to be fair to them they have shown impressive form on the road. They have won four, drawn two, and lost three of their overall matches so far, a record which puts them very close to the top of the table.

Toronto FC come into this match in 3rd position, level on points with 2nd placed Philadelphia Union and just a point adrift of Montreal Impact at the top. The top two face each other on Saturday as well, so if the teams drawn there and Toronto FC get a win they will move top of the table. A defeat could send them down to 5th though, although they do have at least a game in hand on five of the other sides in the MLS Eastern Conference.

Whitecaps inconsistency puts them down in 6th position in the Western Conference with 17 points from their opening 12 matches. All but one of the teams above them have games in hand on them too, as well as three of the four sides below them. Nevertheless, a victory at Toronto could send them up to 2nd, whereas a defeat would see them drop a maximum of one position.

The visitors have managed to win three of their last five matches though, although prior to this run they had picked up just one point from their previous three matches.

Unfortunately for them, Whitecaps’ poor results tend to come away from home. They have lost four of their six away days in the MLS and only won once, while Toronto FC have shown excellent form considering the amount of away days they have had and kicked off their run of home matches with a win last weekend. This makes odds of 4/5 for a Toronto FC Win look good value to me, and I’m going for a 2-0 correct score prediction at 8/1 as well.
