      Tranmere vs Accrington Stanley Predictions

      • Tranmere are without a home win in League 1 since September. They’ve since lost two and drawn two.
      • Accrington haven’t won away from home in League since September. They’ve since lost three and drawn one.
      • This pair have performed similarly in terms of shots on targets for this term. Tranmere average 4.35, while Stanley average 4.5.

Prenton Park form a worry for hosts

Stepping up from League 2 is often tough, especially for clubs that don’t have deep pockets to reach into, though Tranmere supporters will still be disappointed that their side haven’t made a better fist of competing at this level. Fortunately, thanks to Bolton’s situation and the appalling form of Southend and MK Dons, Tranmere remain three points above the drop-zone, so it’s not all bad.

If Saturday’s hosts can improve their home efforts, then they’ve got every chance of remaining in the division. Unfortunately, Tranmere have only taken two more points at home than they have on the road, which isn’t great considering that they’ve claimed seven out of 27 on their travels. What is fortunate for the hosts is that Accrington haven’t done particularly well away from home, especially as their decent results at home have come against teams of that ilk.

Lack of away goals the issue for Stanley

Tranmere haven’t been great at home, but Accrington even poorer on the road, where they’ve won just one out of ten. They’ve avoided defeat in four of the other nine, but their recent efforts haven’t been great. Stanley have lost three of their last four away, scoring one goal and conceding seven in the process.

It’s a lack of goals that has really cost John Coleman’s men away from home this term. At home, they’ve done a good job of getting the ball in the net, but on the road, it’s been a completely different story. In ten travelling matches, Stanley have scored only seven goals, which is very poor when they’ve conceded 16. Accrington have struggled at both ends of the pitch away from the comforts of home, there can be no denying that.

      Stick with Rovers

Those looking to get involved with the betting ahead of this clash are advised to stick with the hosts. Neither side has flourished this season, though given that Tranmere’s forward efforts at home have been considerably better than Stanley’s exploits on the road, it’s easy to feel that they deserve a bit more respect. If you’re looking for a sure-fire winner, then you might be disappointed by this fixture, as it’s by no means a fixture to get overly excited about in that sense. Overall there’s not a great deal between the pair, neither of whom are great at the back, but Tranmere’s extra attacking power at home came make all the difference and ultimately makes the price on offer look reasonably attractive.
