USA vs Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Betting Tips

A home win is a staggering 1/50 which isn’t surprising when you consider Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has a population of just 100,000. It’s a huge shock to see the Caribbean side at this stage of the tournament. They beat Guyana on away goals after a thrilling 4-4 draw in the 2nd leg in their first qualifier before seeing off Aruba 3-2 on aggregate to make it to this round.

Neither of those sides are exactly amongst the giants of world football though and it is likely they will be found highly out of their depth at this stage of the competition. They are though something of an unknown quantity given they rarely face sides much bigger than themselves and for that reason USA will have to take this seriously.

To try and quantify their class we might look back to the last set of World Cup qualifiers where they were beaten 4-0 and 3-0 by Guatemala in the group phase and eventually knocked out by the not so mighty Belize. Perhaps they have improved slightly since then but they’ve only won 1 of their 4 matches so far in this campaign against fellow minnows so it is unlikely they are suddenly a much better side.

Things haven’t been going well for the United States recently and they’ll be glad to get a win under their belts. They suffered defeat in the Semi-Finals of the Gold Cup and couldn’t even secure 3rd place going down to Panama on penalties in the 3rd/4th place play-off. Their last 3 matches have all been defeats against Brazil and Costa Rica in friendlies while they missed out on a place at the 2017 Confederations Cup by losing a decider against Mexico.

That may only make them more fired up for this game though and they are usually very strong when World Cup qualifying comes around and they will wish to send out a bit of a message to the rest of the region here that they haven’t suddenly become a soft touch.

The gulf in class is obviously huge and a 4 goal win shouldn’t be beyond them so consider backing USA – 3.25 in the Asian Handicap at 29/40.

Saint Vincent will surely come to defend and it’s hard to see them getting much of the ball or much in the way of opportunities. So consider backing USA to win 4-0 at 6/1.
