VVV Venlo vs ADO Den Haag Predictions

A heavy defeat against league leaders PSV saw VVV drop one place to seventh in the Eredivisie before the international break, but even that 4-0 loss cannot take away from what has been a good start to the season for the Venlo club. On Sunday VVV play host to a Den Haag side that sit one place place behind them in the table and have the same points total of eleven from their opening eight matches, and we’re expecting a tight and tense affair at the Seacon Stadion De Koel.

PSV have beaten every team put in front of them in the Eredivisie this season, so when it came time for VVV to make the trip to Eindhoven it wasn’t a surprise to see that game end the same way. A single strike from Mexican international Lozano in the thirty-fourth minute proved enough to separate the sides at the break.

PSV doubled their lead in the sixty-fourth minute through de Jong, and that goal ended any hopes VVV had of sneaking a draw from this game. A late flurry saw PSV add insult to injury for the visitors, with Gutiérrez scoring a third three minutes from time and in stoppage time Lozano scored a penalty to wrap up a 4-0 win.

VVV weren’t as bad as the scoreline suggested against PSV, but the hosts were the dominant side and thoroughly deserved their three points. VVV haven’t scored in either of their last two match, but both came away from home and the hopes will be that a return to more familiar surroundings will end their mini goal drought. Sušić top scores for the hosts with three Eredivisie goals this season, closely followed by Post who has chipped in with two goals so far.

Den Haag’s El Khayati is enjoying his most fruitful start to a campaign ever, with seven goals in eight matches for the eighth placed club, but wasn’t on target against Groningen and still saw his side pick up three points.

Hooi scored the only goal of the game in the thirty-second minute to give Den Haag a home win against struggling Groningen, in a game that will soon be forgotten. Both sides shots on target during the ninety minutes combined could be counted on one hand, but after edging the possession and looking more threatening in the final third, Den Haag did just enough to deserve their victory.

While El Khayati has been in fine form, the visitors will be a little worried as to where the goals would come from if the Dutchman were to pick up an injury or get suspended, as nobody else in the squad has scored on more than one occasion in the league this season.

We’re confident that Den Haag will pick up something from this game and have backed the visitors with a double chance bet, and for the game to end in a 1-1 draw. Den Haag are unbeaten in their last four games against VVV, and the hosts have lost their last two Eredivisie games. Den Haag are unbeaten in their last four league and cup games and the visitors have conceded just two goals in their last four competitive matches, three of which have come away from home.
