Watford vs Newcastle Predictions
Watford’s form has collapsed in recent weeks. They enjoyed a five match unbeaten streak in which they won four games back in December, but the New Year hasn’t been as kind to them.
They come into this game having lost four of their last five matches in all competitions and have only won one of their last six.
At first you could forgive this, they had lost to the likes of Manchester City and Spurs. However, their last two games have seen them lose to fellow strugglers Southampton and Swansea, with Watford failing to find the net on either occasion.
They did manage to narrowly beat Newcastle in the FA Cup 3rd Round, but I expect this match to be a bit more difficult for the hosts considering Newcastle’s recent upturn in results.
The visitors managed to pick up three points against West Ham last weekend and put in a very impressive performance, with this result following an equally impressive performance in their 3-3 draw with Manchester United.
Newcastle’s performances have been on the up for a while, but the results just weren’t coming. They lost narrowly to Arsenal, West Brom, and Everton prior to their defeat to Watford. Now the results are finally starting to flow as well.
Their win last weekend wasn’t enough to take them out of the bottom three though thanks to Swansea winning. They remain one point behind Swansea in 18th position.
Watford are still looking fairly comfortable in 12th position, but a cushion of eight points over the relegation zone can quickly be turned into a problem if they don’t turn their form around soon.
I think Newcastle will have the confidence to get a result on Saturday, and odds of 4/5 for a Newcastle Win or Draw Double Chance looks good to me. I’m also going for a 1-0 Newcastle win at 10/1.
