West Ham vs Watford Betting Tips & Predictions

West Ham failed to win yet again on Sunday, but this one certainly won’t go down as a disappointing result. They fought back from a goal behind away to Premier League leaders Leicester to lead them 2-1, but a mistake from Andy Carroll saw the hosts convert a late equalising penalty to snatch a point from West Ham.

They may be disappointed at conceding the late equaliser, but I think if Slaven Bilic was offered a draw before the game he would have taken it. Nevertheless, this leaves West Ham winless in six matches in all competitions.

Five of these games have ended all square, with their only defeat coming in midweek as Manchester United knocked them out of the FA Cup. This consistent dropping of points in the Premier League has left them trailing 4th placed Arsenal by seven points though, so an unlikely challenge for the top four seems to be out of their reach now.

Watford’s Premier League season has petered out after an impressive first half, but they did manage to break out of their own poor form on Saturday with a 1-0 win at West Brom.

This takes their record to four defeats, two wins, and two draws in their last eight matches, but another win on Wednesday would set them up very nicely for their FA Cup semi final against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

West Ham’s failure to produce winning displays has largely been down to a lapse in their defensive abilities. They haven’t kept a clean sheet in seven matches and have conceded an average of two goals per game during this run. They have managed to score two goals per game as well to be fair, but if they could just return to their solidity at the back their fortunes would surely change.

Watford will have gained confidence from their win on Saturday though, so I can see them taking advantage and bagging a goal or two against West Ham. This makes odds of 10/11 for Both Teams to Score very good value in my book, and I’m going for a 2-2 correct score prediction at 16/1 as well.
