Wigan thrashed the disappointing Swindon away from home on Friday, and in the process gained some ground on League One leaders Burton. Burton drew their corresponding fixture, meaning that the gap between 2nd placed Wigan and leaders Burton is now just four points.

Three points lie between Wigan and 3rd placed Walsall, so they know they need to keep their form going if they are to secure an automatic promotion spot back to the Championship.

Keeping their form going is something that the Latics have managed so far, with their win on Friday taking their unbeaten streak in League One to 17 matches, ten of which have resulted in a full points haul for Wigan.

Rochdale certainly aren’t in bad form. They have won six of their last seven matches in League One and find themselves challenging for a playoff position. They are in 8th position in the table with a four point deficit to make up on 6th placed Bradford.

It could be difficult for the visitors on Monday though. Rochdale have lost three of their last six matches on the road and are coming up against a Wigan side with five wins and three draws from their last eight home matches.
