Willem II vs NAC Breda Predictions

Both of these teams could end up in the relegation battle come the business end of the season, but at the halfway point Sunday’s hosts Willem II have a four point cushion over the bottom them. The visitors Breda currently sit second from bottom in the Eredivisie table, but as little as a point this weekend could be enough to drag them out of the relegation zone.

Willem II recorded a 2-0 win away at Emmen before the winter break, despite being outplayed for large parts of the match. A goal in the forty-second minute against the run of play by Özbiliz saw Willem II lead 1-0 at the interval. Emmen pushed forward in search of an equalising goal in the second half, but were caught out by a sucker punch from their guests in the fifty-fifth minute when top scorer Fran Sol made it 2-0. Willem II only had 39% of the overall possession and scored with their only two shots on target, leaving Emmen frustrated by their own missed opportunities in front of goal.

Breda were involved in a six-goal thriller in their last Eredivisie game against mid table Heerenveen, and took the lead in the sixth minute through top scorer te Vrede. However, goals from Rienstra and van Bergen before the half hour mark proved enough for Heerenveen to lead at the break. That man te Vrede brought the teams back on level terms shortly before the hour mark, and teammate Rosheuvel scored two goals in the space of seven second half minutes to wrap up an emphatic 4-2 win for Breda.

When these two clubs met for their reverse league fixture back in October the points were shared as the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Breda took the lead at home in the twenty-eighth minute through striker te Vrede, but goals from Meißner and Avdijaj saw Willem II in front at the break. A seventy-fourth minute penalty from Rosheuvel proved enough for the hosts to claim a share of the spoils and on the balance of play a draw was the fairest result.

Both of these teams saw their form improve just before the winter break, and with three wins and three defeats from their last six matches its Willem II who head into the game as the slight form favourites. Spanish goal machine Fran Sol is on thirteen Eredivisie goals for the season, while Breda’s te Vrede is just one away from hitting double figures for the struggling visitors.

We’re confident that Willem II will win and that both teams will score in the process, wit the scoreline ending 3-1. Willem II have won three of the last six meetings between the pair, and both teams have scored in five of the last six encounters. Both teams have also scored in four of Breda’s last six competitive matches and that’s why were expecting both teams to score on Sunday.
