Wolves vs Barnsley Predictions
The Walter Zenga revolution in Wolverhampton has hit its first couple of stumbling blocks in the shape of a 1-0 defeat at Huddersfield just before the international break and 1-1 draw at home to Burton at the weekend. The latter would have come as a real blow with Wolves conceding a 94th minute equaliser after new signing Prince Oniangué had netted his first goal for the club to give them the lead. It leaves Wolves back down in mid-table at this early stage but they would have been targeting at least 4 points from these two back-to-back home games against newly promoted clubs and will therefore be very keen to win this with a tough trip to Newcastle at the weekend.
That might be easier said than done though as Barnsley are flying right now. They’ve won 4 of their 5 league games since a 4-2 opening day defeat at Ipswich. The latest was a 2-1 win at Preston on Saturday so they will come into this game still on a real high after Newcastle loanee Adam Armstrong netted a debut goal to settle that clash.
Barnsley have been scoring plenty of goals so far this term and have netted in every match they’ve played this season. They also boast the best goalscoring record in the Championship which is a major surprise and they just seem to have kept the late season surge which inspired them to promotion last term going.
They are clearly a team with an attacking philosophy and that doesn’t seem to change wherever they go so the Molineux crowd should see an open game here and goals seem almost guaranteed. The way Barnsley are playing it’d be a surprise if they didn’t score but Wolves are unbeaten in 10 home league games and should be able to cause the visitors plenty of problems too.
Therefore backing Both Teams to Score at 8/11 looks to offer the best value here.
