Tip Reasoning
Wycombe’s preparations for the new season were blown away after Gareth Ainsworth’s men suffered injury after injury before the big kick off. With Max Muller, Danny Rowe, Nick Freeman, Paris Cowan-Hall and Paul Hayes joined on the injury list by Michael Harriman, Luke O’Nien and Myles Weston Manager Gareth Ainsworth was forced to name himself on the substitutes bench. They went on to lose that game to Crawley and have since backed that up with defeat in the first round of the League Cup as they were knocked out by Championship side Bristol City. Ainsworth’s will be able to call on iconic striker Adebayo Akinfenwa after he returns from suspension but it may still be a few weeks before he can field a full strength side.
Grimsby will take part in their first away game back in the Football League since 2010 when they travel to Wycombe and after an opening day victory they will be confident of making it two wins from two. The Mariners looked nervy early in the match against Derby County in the League Cup on Tuesday night and d,espite eventually losing 1-0, they will be happy that they grew into the performance and had chances to cause an upset.
Given that Grimsby will still be on a high from promotion and having already started the season well we are predicting that they will make it back to back victories in the league. Their task will be made easier given the horrendous injury list Wycombe have and with very attractive odds of 21/10 with bet365 we think there’s some good opportunity for a decent profit. We think that Grimsby will grow into this game and record a 2-0 victory which is available at 14/1.
