Yeovil Town vs Exeter Predictions

It has been just over a month since Yeovil Town and Exeter City last locked horns, with the previous clash ending in a pretty dull 0-0 draw. Of course, that meeting occurred in the controversial and unpopular Checkatrade Trophy, where as this weekend’s contest between the two sides will have a bit more on the line as the sides battle for three points in League Two.

Like many other sides in League Two, Yeovil have the curse of being a very inconsistent side. An incredible 6-0 demolition of high flying Newport County, in which the team showed fantastic movement, pace, and finishing, was followed by a dour 3-0 home loss in the West County derby to Swindon. The team had kept five clean sheets in a row but were battered from start to finish and deserved to lose by that margin. The performance against Newport is a hard yard stick to live up to, but the Swindon loss has been followed up by a 1-1 draw with the MK Dons and back to back 3-1 defeats at the hands of Crawley and Colchester on their travels.

After back-to-back defeats in successive play-off finals, there will no doubt be little hunger to try and win promotion through that route this time around and the early season form of Exeter City suggests they are going for promotion via the automatic method this time around. The Grecians have the second best offensive record in the division with 20 goals scored so far, and that offensive capability has allowed the side to maintain their early season title charge.

Since that Newport demolition, it has been a pretty miserable run for Yeovil Town, and given that their visitors have won four and drawn one in their previous five league matches, it is hard to see anything other than an away win in this fixture and it is here where we shall be placing our money.

However, both of these sides have shown an eye for goal already this season and this clash represents the second and fourth best attacks in League Two at the moment. It is hard to ignore the chances of this fixture producing plenty of goals, so for those of you looking for something which offers more of a return, we think that combining our initial tip of an away win with there to be over 2.5 goals scored is an excellent way to accomplish this.
