Yeovil Town vs Sutton United Predictions
Yeovil host Sutton on Tuesday evening, as they look to start building momentum after an up and down start to life in the National League. Having lost three on the bounce, Darren Sarll’s men made a timely return to winning ways on Saturday, whereas Sutton suffered a heavy defeat on their own patch.
As a side looking to return to the Football League ASAP, Yeovil haven’t exactly flown at the start of this campaign, as they’ve won three, drawn one and lost four of their first eight matches. They’ve not been terrible, but they’re struggling to offer more going forward than they’ve given away at the back, which is why they’ve currently got a goal difference of -1. The main reason for this has been a lack of creativity. After the first six matches, the Glovers possessed an average of just 0.72 expected goals for. Such a number tells us that creating lots of scoring opportunities has been beyond Marmon’s men.
Fortunately, Yeovil have done their best work at home, which is where they’ve claimed seven of their ten points, winning two, drawing one and losing one of their four games at Huish Park. After notching three on route to beating Notts County at this venue on Saturday, the hosts will fancy themselves to do well on Tuesday.
While Yeovil have been at their best at home, Sutton have saved their better performances for when playing away from the comforts of home. Paul Doswell’s men are unbeaten on the road this term, as they’ve won two and drawn two. They’ve scored six and conceded just three in the process.
The fact that Sutton have scored six goals in four away matches, notching at least once in each of those four bodes well ahead of a match against a Yeovil side that has surrendered four in three at home. That said, Tuesday’s hosts have scored in 100% of their games at Huish Park this term, which doesn’t exactly bode well for the visitors, who’ve recorded just one shutout on the road.
Given the numbers above, ‘Both Teams to Score’ stands out as a viable option. For all they’ve not exactly thrived, Yeovil have been scoring plenty of goals, notching nine in their last five. Unfortunately for the hosts, they’ve struggled to keep teams at bay, shipping in each of those five, conceding a total of eight. The hosts have also notched in four out of four at home. Combine this with the fact that Sutton have failed to score just once this term, scoring in four out of four on the road, and backing both to notch on Tuesday begins to make plenty of appeal.
At the prices, the 1-1 draw catches the eye in the ‘Correct Score’ market. Both teams have shown that they can score goals, though as they’ve both scored more than once in just one of their respective home and away games, neither have come across as overly prolific. Combine this with that fact that they’re closely matched in the table and a relatively low-scoring draw stands out a solid option for those looking to nail the score-line.
