AaB vs Nordsjaelland Predictions

This game features two sides that qualified for the Championship Round of the Danish Superliga last term by finishing in the top six. While neither side seriously threatened to compete for the title, Nordsjaelland managed to secure 3rd place and qualify for Europe, while Aalborg narrowly missed out on a European adventure.

Nordsjælland had been enjoying a decent run in the Europa League until this Thursday. They’d seen off Cliftonville and surprisingly Swedish league leaders AIK by winning both legs of both ties. However a home defeat to Partizan means they have a really tough task in Serbia next week now and they may soon have to focus on league football.

As for the hosts, they haven’t had any distractions and they’ve made a decent start to the new season, despite a tough schedule. 9 points from 4 games is an excellent return when you consider they’ve had to play last season’s champions Midtjylland as well as FC Copenhagen, who are the bookies’ strong favourites to win the title this term. 3 of their opening 4 fixtures have been away too so they will be delighted with their start to the new campaign.

AaB look capable of building on that success here. The fact they aren’t in Europe offers them a clear advantage. Nordsjaelland won’t have given up on their Europa League tie with the group stage not far away now and they may be forced into some rotation, given the schedule. That can only help Aalborg who already appear to have found a winning formula.

At the very least, it’s hard to see the hosts losing this. AaB have only lost 1 of their last 11 home games in the Danish Superliga. That includes games against all the top teams in the Championship Round at the end of last season so it’s clearly a tough place to go and the excellent start they’ve made this term suggests they are capable of edging this.

Nordsjaelland haven’t really convinced in the league this term either. They’ve only won 1 of their opening 4 matches and were beaten 2-0 away to Brondby last weekend. Overall backing AaB Draw No Bet looks good here.

It makes more sense to do that than back Aalborg outright for the win given this fixture does have a tendency of finishing level, while 6 of Aalborg’s last 11 home Superliga games have done just that.
