AaB vs Sonderjyske Predictions

While Sonderjyske made a winning start to the campaign by beating Randers, Aalborg struggled first time out, as they lost away against Lyngby. After a disappointing opening defeat, Saturday’s hosts will be hoping to get their first win of the season now that they’re in front of a home crowd.

After what was ultimately a poor campaign that culminated in them staying up thanks to a decent showing in Relegation Group B, Aalborg will be hoping to do much better this time around, though they didn’t exactly get off to a good start. On match-day one, Sunday’s hosts lost by two goals to nil against Lyngby.

However, while they did lose first time out, they didn’t exactly perform terribly. Despite losing 2-0, Aalborg finished the game with an expected goal difference of +0.15, which suggests that they deserved a share of the spoils. If they can build on that performance now back at home, then there’s no reason as to why they cannot get a positive result.

The only problem for the hosts is that they’re up against a useful Sonderjyske side that won first time out. Not only did Sunday’s visitors win their opening game, but they did so in convincing fashion, or at least they were more convincing than the 2-1 score-line would have us believe.

Then again, Sonderjyske didn’t exactly specialise in winning away from home last season, especially towards the end of the campaign. In fact, they struggled big time, losing six of their final seven travelling matches.

As far as this game is concerned, from a betting point of view, ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’ catches the eye. Having posted 1.51 and 1.92 expected goals for, both looked useful going forward on match-day one, while Sonderjyske are a side known for being involved in high-scoring games. Interestingly, between the turn of the year and the end of the season, there was an average of 3.43 goals in Sonderjyske’s travelling matches, five out of seven of which saw at least three goals go in.
