      Aberdeen vs Dundee Predictions

An in-form Aberdeen will host Dundee at Dens Park on Tuesday night as the hosts climb up the league table. Can the Dee cause an upset?

Aberdeen seem to be back to their best version after a very shaky start to the season. The Dons looked to in for one of their worst seasons under Derek McInnes, but the club seems to have been able to pick itself up over the last few weeks.

The turning point of their season came after Aberdeen defeated Rangers in the League Cup semi-final, thanks to a 79th minute goal from youngster Lewis Ferguson. The Dons’ record since has been nearly impeccable, winning six of their next nine games. The defeats came against Motherwell in the week before the League Cup final, another to Celtic in the final itself and their third loss came at the start of the month to an extremely high-flying St Johnstone side.

McInness’ men have also been able to overcome Rangers, Kilmarnock and Livingston in three crucial games for the club that meant their dominance as second best in the country remains. The Dons’ most recent outing saw them defeat bottom of the table St Mirren 2-1, a result that now places Aberdeen in the 4th position and mere points from Celtic, Rangers and Kilmarnock.

Dundee suffered a fresh defeat on Saturday when they visited an eager Kilmarnock side, who were aiming to retake the top spot in the table. However, it was the Dee’s first negative result in well over a month, as the club hadn’t been defeated since the start of November.

The results since losing 1-0 to Motherwell haven’t been stellar either but considering how badly Dundee had been doing until then, it wasn’t so bad. Their clash with another relegation candidate St Mirren finished 1-1 on the day, a result that wasn’t exactly helpful. The following week saw Jim McIntyre’s men come back from 2-0 to draw 2-2, thanks to an electric start to the second-half thanks to goals form Kenny Miller and Paul McGowan. Dundee went on to hammer Hamilton 4-0 and they achieved a fantastic draw against Rangers, but their undefeated run came to an end this past weekend, when the Dee weren’t able to contain Kilmarnock, who went 3-0 up before Miller pulled one back in the last minutes of the game.

Aberdeen will be eager to continue their brilliant form over the last couple of months. Dundee are in desperate need of points, and this is their game in hand that they had yet to play. A win for the Dee would seem them go three points ahead of St Mirren and just one point behind Hamilton, but we believe that the hosts will be the winners here. We’re backing the Dons to win and both teams to score, with a full time result of 3-1.
