Aberdeen vs Queen Of The South Predictions

Queen of the South managed to stun the Premiership side Dundee in the previous round of the cup as 36 year old Stephen Dobbie bagged a hat-trick. The veteran has been the Queens’ key man this season and is sitting on 37goals after 31 games, an outstanding figure for someone of his age. Many have even asked for him to be called up for the Scotland squad as a result of his form.

Unfortunately for him, he plays in a rather inconsistent Queens’ side who currently sit 5th in the ten-team league. After their 3-0 win over Dundee, they backed it up with a 3-0 defeat to bottom club Falkirk. This has happened a few times for Queen of the South as they backed up their 4-0 beating of league leaders Ross County by losing 2-1 to second bottom Partick earlier in the season. It’s hard to always tell what side will turn up on the day but we think the opposition will decide this match more than the Queens.

Aberdeen are in fantastic form with just one loss in their last seven matches. This defeat came in midweek against Rangers but apart from that they have been on top of their game with Sam Cosgrove scoring for fun. The big striker is their top scorer with 13 goals in the league and he bagged two against Rangers. He has been such a handful to deal with and despite his career at the Dons not starting off very well, he has very much repaid Derek McInnes’ faith.

He has been a large part of Aberdeen’s recent success as they sit 3rd in the table. They are five points behind Rangers but still have time to catch up on them as they showed they can very much give them a good game, as was the case on Wednesday. Aberdeen will be hurting following the defeat and looking to take that out in this match so we think it should be a pretty comfortable victory for Aberdeen.

Queen of the South managed to thrash Dundee but this was probably more to do with the Dee being in a sorry state this season. Aberdeen are not in that situation and with them losing just three of their last thirteen home matches, this should be a rather easy match for the Dons. Queen of the South have won just one of their last eight away games and with them conceding three to Falkirk last week, we’re backing them to lose 4-0 in this match. Sam Cosgrove has been the star man for Aberdeen recently so we’re backing him to get on the scoresheet also.
