      Aberdeen vs Stenhousemuir Predictions

Struggling League One side Stenhousemuir will travel to Aberdeen as they are hosted by the Dons at Pittodrie on Saturday. Can Aberdeen avoid an upset?

Although they seem to get off to a rocky start in all competitions at the start of the season, Aberdeen have managed to bounce back from their irregular form and make up for it in the process.

Following an early exit in the Europa League qualifiers against Burnley, Derek McInnes had the huge task of keeping his side’s performances in the league up to standard, as the Dons have been the second-best team in the Premiership over the last few years.

Aberdeen were able to slowly- but surely- climb their way back up to the top places in the league after the club seemed to slowly sink into the bottom half of table. December was an extremely positive month for Aberdeen, as they showed that they managed to put behind them the loss to Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final at the start of that month. Since then, the Dons won six of their next eight games, including a 5-1 thrashing of Dundee and a disappointing- yet exciting- 4-3 loss to Celtic on Boxing Day.

The team’s performances were rewarded with both McInnes and Sam Cosgrove picking up awards for their work throughout the final month of the year, and they will be looking to make it to yet another cup final this season.

Stenhousemuir face a massive game when they travel to the Granite City to face Aberdeen on Saturday. Player/manager Colin McMenamin will be looking to draw inspiration from last season’s performances. The Warriors were relegated to League Two following a very poor 2016/2017 season, but the club bounced back immediately, finishing 4th the following campaign and qualifying for the promotion play-offs, where they would defeat Queen’s Park in the semi-final and Peterhead in the final.

However, it’s been a season to forget for the fans. Stenhousemuir currently find themselves in bottom place with a measly 16 points from 21 games. The club’s hopes for survival rely heavily on the teams above them, as both Dumbarton and Brechin City are three points in front of the Warriors, albeit Brechin do have a game in hand.

While relegation isn’t a guarantee as of yet, the fans will be keen to lead their attention to the Scottish Cup match that’s coming up against Aberdeen and going into the game as underdogs could give them a slight chance of pulling off a surprise win.

Aberdeen will be well-rested following their winter break in Dubai. The Dons will be very eager to push for another cup final as they try to wrestle the title from Celtic, so we’re going to back the Dons to win & both teams to score, as well as a 4-1 score against bottom side Stenhousemuir.
