Accrington vs AFC Wimbledon predictions for Saturday’s League One fixture at Crown Ground. Can the hosts break their chain of draws? Or will it be another share of the spoils for John Coleman’s men? Continue reading below for all our free tips and predictions.

Reason For Accrington Stanley vs AFC Wimbledon Betting Tips

Accrington’s solid form continued last weekend when they drew 1-1 away at Fleetwood. Such a result was a pleasing one, though manager John Coleman will now be hoping that his side can regain the winning thread after four successive draws.

Steady and solid are two ways to describe how Accrington have performed in League One since the start of the season. They did start by being a bit open, but they’ve improved slightly in that respect and are by no means the worst defensive side in the division, while they continue to offer a consistent threat at the other end of the pitch, as each of their recent matches has shown.

Going away to Fleetwood was never going to be an easy task, but John Coleman’s men can be pleased with their efforts last week. Stanley dominated the game in terms of chances created, so much so that they really did deserve to come away with all three points. Taking that performance into consideration, coupled with the fact that they put on a similar show when last in action on home soil, the hosts should fancy themselves to do the business on Saturday.

Unlike Accrington, Wimbledon come into this fixture off the back of a defeat, though they too will have felt a little bit unlucky with the final score last weekend. Despite not completely dominating a determined Scunthorpe side, and even though they didn’t defend as well as they often do, Neal Ardley’s men did more than enough to at least get a draw.

Given that keeping things tight was Wimbledon’s best asset last season, it’s not a surprise to see the Dons defend well this campaign, though their forward antics perhaps weren’t expected. Saturday’s visitors have consistently created scoring opportunities, as the fact that they rank 8th in the expected goals for table suggests.

From a betting point of view, this is not the easiest fixture to assess. In truth, for one reason or another, a case could be made for either side, and while it is the visitors who make more appeal at the prices, the bet that really stands out is ‘Over 2.5 Goals’.

Accrington, who’re averaging 1.77 expected goals for per match, continue to look strong from a creativity point of view, while much of the same can be said for Wimbledon, who’re averaging 1.6 expected goals for. With a combined average of 2.91 expected goals in their league matches this season, a bet on ‘Over 2.5 Goals’, with the current price very much in mind, stands out.

Head to Head

Accrington did win when the teams last met, though their recent record in this fixture isn’t necessarily a good one. Wimbledon have won three of the last four renewals, while Accrington have won just one of those. However, Saturday’s hosts have won four of their last five home matches against the Dons.

Accrington Stanley Team News

Accrington Stanley Team Badge Accrington are currently operating at full capacity, so manager John Coleman should be able to select his strongest XI.

AFC Wimbledon Team News

AFC Wimbledon Team Badge Terrell Thomas is a doubt for the visitors, though they have no other concerns at present.
