ADO Den Haag vs Excelsior Predictions

Den Haag just need a point from Thursday’s match to confirm their place in next season’s Eredivisie, but the hosts could still finish in the top half of the table and that would make for a decent campaign. Excelsior sit third from bottom in the table, five points behind nearest rivals Emmen, and after ending their losing streak last time out, the visitors could do with picking up all three points against Den Haag.

Den Haag put up little resistance during their trip to Eindhoven at the weekend, where the visitors went in at the break a goal down to PSV. The hosts controlled the match, but didn’t carve out their second goal until seven minutes from time. Necid came on and scored a consolation goal for Den Haag with two minutes of the ninety remaining, but PSV netted their third goal in stoppage time to win the game 3-1. A sixteenth minute effort from Tapia looked to have been enough for Willem II to claim all three points away at Excelsior last time out, but journeyman striker El Hamdaoui equalised for Excelsior deep into stoppage time to end the home sides losing streak and keep their survival dreams alive.

The recent history between these two clubs and their performances in the Eredivisie over the last month or so, all points towards both teams scoring in Thursday’s match. Six of the last seven meetings between these two clubs have seen both teams score, and Excelsior won their last trip to Den Haag 2-1 back in October 2017. Three of Den Haag’s last five and three of Excelsior’s last four matches have seen both teams score. Excelsior haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last six matches, while Den Haag have only failed to score in two of their last six matches. The visitors have plenty to play for on Thursday, while their hosts are practically safe for another season, and along with both teams scoring, we believe Excelsior sneak a win in a match they can’t afford to lose.

El Khayati remains Den Haag’s top scorer in the Eredivisie this season with an impressive fourteen goals from midfield, while Messaoud leads the way for Excelsior with seven goals. We’re confident that both teams will score in this important match at the bottom end of the table, and have predicted a final score of 2-1 in favour of the visitors. Excelsior were victorious in their last trip to Den Haag and this fixture has a history of producing goals for both sides. The form favours Den Haag, but we’re backing Excelsior’s need for points to drive the visitors forward on Thursday.
