      AFC Wimbledon vs Blackpool Predictions

      • 73% of AFC Wimbledon’s points have been earned at home.
      • Blackpool conceded at least 1 goal in each of their last 13 matches.
      • Blackpool have scored in 75% of their away matches.
      • Blackpool have failed to win in their last 11 away matches.

      A poor run of form

Things have not really been going to plan for AFC Wimbledon of late as their bid for survival has taken a turn for the worse. The Dons have only managed to claim six points from their last eight outings and, as a result, they currently find themselves in 20th position. Of course, due to Bury’s expulsion from the league, that is not a spot which will see them relegated, but given that the sides below them have games in hand, their future is far from secure.

The hosts may not be in form at the moment, but they will be pleased by the fact that this match is taking place on home soil as a massive 73% of their points have come in front of their own fans. They are also much more solid defensively on their own patch and this is demonstrated perfectly by the fact that just 35% of their conceded goals have come at Kingsmeadow.

      Away day blues

Speaking of sides who are struggling to find some form, that is also something which is true of this weekend’s visitors to Kingsmeadow, Blackpool. The Tangerines are in even worse form than their hosts and they have picked up a measly four points from their last eight outings.

While things are not particularly good at home, things are even worse when they are on the road as Blackpool have failed to win any of their last 11 away league matches and have lost each of their last five league games away from home. When you factor in that they have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last eight away league matches and have conceded two or more in their last three, it seems unlikely that they will be able to stem the tide this weekend.

Not much to split the out of form sides

While there may be very little to separate these two out of form sides, there is enough in this fixture to suggest that the hosts should shade it. They are much better on home soil and are against a side who have been frankly awful on their travels of late. Given that the odds still allow for a decent return if we add a safety net, we think backing a home win with the “Draw – No Bet” clause represents the best opportunity for a decent return.

In terms of a correct score tip, we think that there will be little to choose between these two sides but they both seem incapable of keeping a clean sheet. The hosts have scored in 88% of their home matches and the visitors have seen both teams score in 69% of their away matches. After considering this, we think a 2-1 home win is the most likely outcome.
