Ajax vs Heracles predictions for Saturday’s match in the Eredivisie. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.

Reason For Ajax vs Heracles Betting Tips

Ajax finished second in the Eredivisie last season and will be hoping to go one better this time around. The Dutch giants are at home to Heracles for their opening game of the season on Saturday, and with their fantastic record against their guests Ajax will be confident of a winning start to the latest Eredivisie campaign.

Ajax have lost Justin Kluivert to Serie A side Roma in a deal worth over £15m, while Amin Younes moved to Napoli on a free transfer, and centre back Nick Viergever moved to arch rivals PSV after his contract at the club came to an end. Daley Blind returns to the club he considers home for £14.4m from Premier League side Manchester United, while Dusan Tadic also joins from England’s top flight for just over £10m. Hassane Bandé has been brought in from Belgian side KV Mechelen, and Utrecht’s impressive attacking midfielder Zakaria Labyad has also been signed up.

Pre-season has produced a mixed bag of results for Ajax, with Champions League qualifying taking centre stage. Ajax lost to Meppen before beating both newly promoted Emmen and Ajax II ahead of their first qualifier against Sturm Graz. A 2-0 win at home set Ajax on their way into the next round of qualifiers, and a 3-1 win meant an aggregate victory of 5-1 to the Dutch side. Standard Liège provide the next stepping stone for Ajax, and after a 2-2 draw in Belgium, the Eredivisie runners-up are in a good position to get through.

Ajax will be disappointed to lose Kluivert, but have brought in some top quality players that do overall improve the squad from last season. David Neres staying at the club despite interest from a plethora of clubs across Europe shows a sign of intent from Ajax this season, and they are going to give their all to reclaim the Eredivisie title from arch rivals PSV.

Heracles have most notably lost midfielder Jamiro Monteiro who joined Ligue 2 side FC Metz for around £2.7m, but have hardly spent any money on incoming players. German left back Lennart Czyborra joins the squad from Schalke for a very small fee, while Rossmann, Merkel, van Nieff, Dalmau, and Sama have all been signed on free transfers. Eight players were released from their contracts at Heracles over the summer, so all of those in-comings just about make up the numbers ahead of the new season.

The last six matches have brought about two wins, two draws, and two defeats from Heracles, starting with a defeat against Sportfreunde Lotte and a 2-2 draw with Preußen Münster, before back to back wins over Volendam and Almere City. Pre-season finished on a low for Heracles though as Kasımpaşa picked up a 1-1 draw with the Eredivisie side and Serie A side Fiorentina comfortably last seasons tenth placed club 2-0.

Heracles have to be thinking of a top half finish this season, especially as many of the teams in and around them have also been unable to spend the money they would like and have also had to rely on free transfers to make up the bulk of their signings. It’s not going to be an easy season for Saturday’s visitors, but we expect Heracles to finish in mid table once again.

We’re confident that Ajax will claim a win on the opening day of the new season and that both teams will score in the process, as two of the last three meetings between Ajax and Heracles have seen both teams score. Not only that but, both teams have scored in two of Ajax’s last three matches and five of Heracles last six matches. Ajax’s fantastic record against Heracles, which stands at 20 wins and just 1 defeat, suggests this game is only going to end one way. In terms of a final score, we’re putting our money on a comfortable 3-1 win for the hosts.

Head to Head

These two teams have met twenty-six times in total, and with 20 wins, 5 draws, and just 2 defeat it's Dutch giants Ajax that have dominated this fixture.
