Alaves vs Celta Vigo Predictions

Alaves Hitting Form

Alaves come into this game without defeat in five games, a run that has lifted them into mid-table in La Liga, one point and one position better off than Celta Vigo.

Two of the three wins over those last five fixtures have been on home soil, and while they have only picked up three league victories at the Mendizorroza this season, they have come in their last three home games.

Javier Calleja’s side have certainly turned a corner after a dreadful start to the campaign, led by the in-form Joselu, who has netted five times in his last five matches.

The hosts look a good bet to get another victory here, and certainly will be fancying their chances of bagging a couple more goals.

Celta Are Draw Specialists

The visitors have drawn three games in a row and have been forced to come from behind in their last two fixtures, a dramatic 3-3 tie with Barcelona and a 1-1 stalemate with Villarreal to gain a point.

They are no pushovers, but equally the defence is a worry. Eduardo Coudet’s side have conceded 18 times in 14 outings – one more than Alaves, for the record – although they have kept clean sheets in their last two away games, against Rayo Vallecano and Getafe.

At the other end, Celta continue to score though. Nobody in the bottom third of the table has netted more times than their 14 strikes this season, and you would expect them to breach an Alaves backline who struggle to keep clean sheets as well.

On that basis, I predict both teams will score in this one, but Alaves will shade it 2-1.
