Albania vs Andorra Predictions

  • Albania have won five of their last seven home games.
  • Andorra halted a run of 22 straight World Cup Qualifying defeats when they beat San Marino last month.
  • Andorra have scored in three of their last five competitive away games.

Andorra regularly offering something in attack

Albania’s ambitious plan to press England at Wembley backfired spectacularly in a 5-0 defeat on Friday, but they should find Andorra somewhat less comfortable against a similar tactic this week. Edoardo Reja’s troops were made to look disorganised and foolish for taking that approach as England ran riot in the first half before taking their foot off the gas and settling for control.

Andorra were the recipients of a very different beating while that was going on as the were reduced to ten men in the first minute, but still grabbed a goal in a 4-1 home defeat to Poland. The way they refused to cave in when Ricard Fernandez received his marching orders underlines much of the progress they have made. There may be only five European nations ranked below the Tricolours, but they are now only a handful of places behind Latvia – who have approximately 30 times their population.

Andorra also scored away to Hungary last month, which makes us think it could be well worth taking the both teams to score option alongside an expected Albania win on Monday.

Depleted Albanians should still win

Although Elseid Hysaj returns from suspension, Reja is going to be without defender Ardian Ismajli, midfielder Klaus Gjasula and forward Sokol Cikalleshi, who all picked up disqualifying cautions at Wembley.

They also look set to be denied the services of wing-back Keidi Bare and central defender Marash Kumbulla, who were withdrawn at the break with injuries.

The scoreline that best reflects Andorra’s recent showings and the depleted hosts’ fine home record is 3-1 to Albania.
