Anderlecht vs APOEL Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Anderlecht managed an impressive and rather surprising victory in Cyprus last week when they visited APOEL. Romanian youngster Nicolae Stanciu netted the only goal of the game in the first half to get a crucial away goal in the tie, and the visitors managed to hold off the rather lacklustre APOEL for the rest of the game, giving themselves a fantastic chance of progression in the Europa League.

The Belgians followed this up with a 3-0 victory in the First Division on Sunday to put them top of the table at the end of the regular season. They now just need to navigate the Championship playoffs in order to win the Belgian domestic title. It’s shaping up to be a very promising season for Anderlecht at the moment.

That victory on Sunday makes it six wins and two defeats for them in their last eight outings in all competitions, and at home things are looking even more impressive. They have won six of their last eight and are unbeaten since the start of December. That loss to Saint Etienne is one of only three home losses this season.

APOEL are looking a little less convincing. They did bounce back with a 1-0 win at Anorthosis on Sunday as they began their Cyprus First Division Championship round, so they do look set to win the domestic title again.

However, they have lost three of their last seven matches in all competitions, whereas prior to that they had remained unbeaten for 15 games. Away from home two of their last three games have ended in defeat, putting an end to a seven match unbeaten streak.

Anderlecht have already managed to get a 2-0 win at home to Zenit in this competition too, and they were one of the top performers in the Europa League at that point. APOEL haven’t been one of the top performers, so I can see a comfortable victory for the hosts here. Anderlecht have won nine of their last 13 home games in all competitions by more than a single goal margin, so odds of 2.000 for an Anderlecht -1.0 Asian Handicap win alongside a 2-0 correct score predictions at 13/2 look good value for money.
