Andorra vs Georgia Predictions

Georgia are enjoying themselves in Group D1 in the UEFA Nations League, having come into the competition on a fine run of form. They’ve managed to put themselves into the third tier when the tournament returns in 2020. However, they could head into that competition on the back of a tournament appearance, after winning this group. They face Andorra this week, hoping to secure another three points and continue to build momentum ahead of key Euro 2020 qualifiers and play-offs.

The hosts haven’t been able to use the more even footing of the Nations League to get some wins under their belt. They have claimed just two points from their opening four games at this level, which includes an October defeat to Georgia. They had a tough qualification campaign for the World Cup, which brought just four points from their 10 matches. That form seems to have carried over to their meetings with weaker opposition, so we don’t expect much from the hosts as they prepare to meet the group winners.

Having taken first place, Georgia will be playing in the third tier next time around, and they go into the four team play-off for a spot at Euro 2020. They do look among the strongest sides at this level, and on recent form it’s hard to back against them winning that play-off and heading to the Euros. That would be huge for the country, and after their 100% start to this group we can see them extending their form this weekend. They make this trip has heavy favourites, and they should follow up on that.

The visitors have won seven of their last eight games overall, and each of those victories has come with a clean sheet. They’re yet to concede in this group, and we don’t expect that to change against a poor Andorra attack. The hosts have failed to score in three of their four Nations League games so far, while they’ve found the net in one of their last six internationals.

At home, Andorra have failed to score against the likes of the UAE and the Cape Verde Islands of late. With Georgia in excellent form and defending reall well, we see them claiming another three points and a clean sheet in this trip. An away win to nil is our pick here, while we are going for a 2-0 victory for the group leaders in this one.
