Arbroath vs Ross County Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

After being relegated last season from the Scottish Premier League, Ross County have been eager to prove that their rightful place is in Scotland’s top tier by winning both games in their League Cup group. Not only that, but they will be hoping to recapture the glory days of 2015/16 when they surprisingly lifted the Scottish League Cup trophy.

Despite having a game in hand, the Staggies currently lead their group after suffering a shaky start to their pre-season with losses to Sint-Truiden and Utrecht, which they immediately overturned by smashing 7 goals and keeping a clean sheet against Clachnacuddin.

This victory started an unbeaten streak that continued with a 2-0 win over Elgin City and a narrow 1-0 victory against Dundee United in the League Cup. A victory on Wednesday would solidify their top spot that would see them progress automatically.

Arbroath enjoyed a good season in League One by finishing 4^th after a successful promotion campaign the season beforehand. Much like Ross County, the Smokies have had a mixed and somewhat inconsistent start to the season. Their opening two friendlies saw them comfortably win 4-1 against Huntly but lose to Championship side Dunfermline Athletic 1-0.

They commenced their Scottish League Cup campaign with a draw that saw them gain a point after winning a penalty in the final minutes of their game against Dundee United, pushing them to win the penalty shootout for an extra point. That dramatic game was followed by a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Alloa Athletic- where they managed to equalise a 2-0 deficit which was later overturned- and then a 2-0 win over Elgin City.

Even though they may have the advantage of the home support, I don’t believe Arbroath will be able to snatch a victory from a Ross County side who are far beyond them in terms of quality. The visitors are yet to concede a single goal in competitive action this season, and a Ross County Win to Nil bet looks a great value offering.
