Armenia vs Kazakhstan Predictions

Armenia’s last match was a hosting of Montenegro back in November, and things were looking bleak for them as they went into half-time 2-0 down. However, they put in an inspired second half performance and won the game with a 93rd minute goal, seeing them collect their first points in these World Cup qualifiers and dragging them off the bottom of the group.

This followed on from tough games against Denmark, Romania, and Poland, all of which they lost. During this run they conceded eight goals and scored just once, although it’s worth noting that they were without star player Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the two of those in which they failed to score.

This victory already gives them a better points tally than they managed in the Euro 2016 qualifiers, where they only collected two points. Now they’re going up against a Kazakhstan side who are looking very shaky at the back.

The visitors lost 3-1 to Cyprus in a friendly on Wednesday, and prior to that they were beaten 4-1 in Denmark, to make it two defeats and two draws from their opening four qualification games.

Both of their points have come on home soil though as they played out rather impressive draws with Poland and Romania. Their other away match saw them hammered 5-0 by Montenegro though, and they are actually winless in six matches now.

Kazakhstan’s recent defensive issues will have piqued Armenia’s interest in them. The visitors have conceded at least two goals in five of their last six matches and in all of their last four away games. Armenia netted three against a Montenegro side who beat Kazakhstan 5-0 recently as well, so odds of 6/5 for Armenia Over 1.5 Team Goals look good value to me. I’m also backing a 2-1 correct score predictions at 8/1.
