Arsenal vs Brighton Predictions
- Arsenal have dropped just four points in eight home games this season
- The Gunners have kept just two clean sheets in those matches
- Both teams have scored in 12 of Brighton’s last 13 league away games
Brighton should make their mark
Arsenal saw Liverpool take over from them at the top of the Premier League after Aston Villa got the better of Mikel Arteta’s team last Saturday, and the Gunners look set to be asked plenty of questions by Brighton on Sunday.
The Seagulls secured top spot in their Europa League group with a 1-0 win over Marseille on Thursday and will remember their last visit to the Emirates fondly as they secured a 3-0 victory in May when Arsenal’s league title quest began to fall apart.
However, while they are plainly a match for any team in the Premier League, they have won just one of their last five away league games and that does not instill confidence that they can get the better of the Gunners.
Arsenal have won six of their home games this term but bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United and, curiously, Manchester City are the only visiting teams who have not managed to find the net.
So with Brighton having scored in their last 21 league road matches, it would make sense to back the Gunners to win but with both teams finding the net.
Goals are on the agenda
The match has the potential to be a thriller as the Seagulls have shown no sign of sitting back in away games under the stewardship of manager Roberto De Zerbi and there is no suggestion that they will do so on Sunday.
Albion have scored at least twice in seven of their last 14 league away games and are likely to want to hit the Gunners early, which, if a successful tactic, could really open the game up.
Their last two league away games have both finished 3-2 with a win gained at Nottingham Forest and a defeat suffered at Chelsea, so it seems unlikely that this one will be cagey and a similar scoreline with the home team triumphing as they did at Stamford Bridge, could offer some correct-score value.
Saka set to contribute again
Arsenal are a team who possess multiple goal threats rather than an outfit who rely on one or two players to do the lion’s share of their attacking, but England wideman Bukayo Saka always seems to be in the thick of things.
Saka has notched five times in the league this season and contributed six assists, and his finishing skills could come to the fore in an open game that could present plenty of opportunities, so take a chance on him adding to his tally.
