AS Trencin vs Feyenoord Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

This Thursday sees Dutch giants Feyenoord make their European bows for the season. They will be expected to progress against Slovakian side Trencin and will fancy they can make it through to the group stage, with Sturm Graz or AEK Larnaca waiting in the Europa League play-off round for the winners of this tie.

Trencin have already had to make it through two ties to even get to this point. The 5th placed side from last season’s Slovakian top flight saw off Buducnost 3-1 on aggregate in the 1st Qualifying Round. Feyenoord will offer a real step up in class though. They won the Dutch Super Cup at the weekend by beating PSV on penalties and that will offer them a real boost heading into the new campaign. This will be their first European game of the new season and on paper they have a squad capable of competing well in this competition.

Robin van Persie joined his hometown club earlier this year and started the Super Cup win, while the recapture of Jordy Clasie on loan from Southampton strengthens their midfield. They ended last season in stunning form, winning all of their final 9 competitive games, whilst scoring for fun. They netted 3 or more goals in each of their final 8 matches last term and while they found Dutch champions PSV tough to break down at the weekend, they should have much more joy here against this Trencin defence.

The Slovakians have conceded in all of their last 11 competitive home matches and many of those games were against relatively weak teams in their own league. They’ve already suffered a 4-1 home defeat this term and their league is just two games old, so there is reason to fancy the visitors will have plenty of joy in the final third here and backing Feyenoord – Over 2.5 Team Goals could be worth a flutter.
