Asteras Tripolis vs Hibernian Predictions

Hibernian had a scare in their Europa League clash last week, as they found themselves 2-0 down at half time against Asteras Tripolis. At that point they were looking at an exit from Europe, less than three games after returning to continental action. The Easter Road side were able to turn things around after the break, and they ended up celebrating a 3-2 victory. That was a huge result for Hibs, but it still doesn’t leave them on solid footing going in to their away trip to Greece on Thursday night.

Neil Lennon’s side may have completed an impressive turnaround, but he won’t have been happy with their first half regardless. They took a victory out of the game, but the visitors would have taken a couple of away goals ahead of the match had they been offered. The hosts will expect a lot from this home leg, and they’ve been installed as odds on favourites for a result. They will progress with a victory, and right now the bookies are expecting Hibs to crash out of the Europa League here.

However, the Scottish side do have some impressive European form so far. They’ve hit 15 goals across their three games in this tournament, and that’s going to give them a great chance of scoring an away goal in Greece. If they could get on the scoresheet they’d stand a good chance of causing an upset, and Lennon is likely to know that. He’ll send his team out to go for goal, given they have scored 20 goals in their last four competitive games.

Hibs have conceded 12 times across those four matches, so goals should be expected in this clash. We’re going with both teams to score as our main tip here, which looks like value considering their form. We also see Hibs getting away with a draw, so we’re backing Thursday’s second leg to finish 2-2.

Hibs have had plenty of scorers in this competition so far, but forward Florian Kamberi has caught the eye with four goals in three matches. The forward scored the winner when these two met last week, and an away goal this week could prove to be even more important. We are already backing Hibs to get on the scoresheet in this trip, and we think Kamberi could be the man to get the goal. We’re backing him to score any time, after hitting six goals in his last five matches.
