Atlanta United vs Houston Dynamo Predictions

Neither of these teams are in the best of form heading into Thursday’s MLS match but Atlanta United do have the home advantage, as well as being the form favourites, against their guests who have lost their last seven away games on the run.

Atlanta United made the trip to Seattle Sounders last weekend where the two sides played out a close and competitive ninety minutes. After a goalless first half, Seattle Sounders broke the deadlock in the fifty-eighth minute through Peru international Ruidiaz, but the visitor’s top scorer Martinez equalised shortly after. The hosts looked the more dangerous on the attack and restored their lead, with what turned out to be the winning goal, in the seventy-first minute through Shipp. Houston Dynamo also tasted defeat when they played host to high flying LAFC, despite taking the lead in the third minute through Quioto. The visitors equalised in first-half stoppage time and took the lead early in the second forty-five, eventually sealing all three points with a third goal two minutes from time.

The limited head to head record between these two sides and both teams form and performances over the last six weeks, all point towards over 3.5 goals being scored on Thursday and Atlanta United winning the game. Over 3.5 goals have been scored in each of the previous two meetings between these two clubs and Atlanta United won their last home game against Houston Dynamo 4-1. Atlanta United have won two, drawn one, and lost three of their last six matches, while Houston Dynamo have won one and lost five of their last six MLS games. Over 3.5 goals have been produced in three of Atlanta United’s and four of Houston Dynamo’s last six matches, which is why we’re backing a 3-1 win for the hosts on Thursday.

Martínez continues to top score for Atlanta United, as he did last season, with 13 MLS goals so far, while the South American duo of Elis and Manotas lead the way for Houston Dynamo with seven league goals apiece. We’re confident that over 3.5 goals will be scored in Thursday’s match and have predicted a 3-1 win for Atlanta United. The hosts are the form favourites and boast a good home record this season, while their guests have lost each of their last seven games on the road and appear to be struggling for confidence.
