Atlanta United vs Toronto FC Predictions

Atlanta United beat Philadelphia Union 2-0 in the regional Semi-finals and remain on course to reclaim their MLS Cup title in 2019, while Toronto are the side looking to end Atlanta’s reign and will be confident in doing so after the Canadians knocked out one of the favourites, New York City, in the last round.

All of the stats suggest that a double chance bet on the visitors is the way to go this Thursday and we’re backing the game to end in a 2-2 draw after ninety minutes.

Toronto have only lost one of their previous six matches against Atlanta United so, despite finishing below their hosts in the regular season, the visitors will be confident in their ability to avoid defeat in the opening ninety minutes of this regional playoff final.

Both teams scored in five of the duos’ six previous meetings and over 2.5 goals were scored in five of the pairs’ six encounters and three of the two clubs last six matches have ended in 2-2 draws, so you can see why we’ve backed Thursday’s clash to end 2-2 as well.

The form of both teams during the last month or so only adds weight to our prediction of a stalemate this Thursday, as Atlanta United have only lost one of their last five matches, as have Toronto. The visitors are actually unbeaten in their last three away games against New York City, Chicago Fire and LAFC, and two of those teams won the Western and Eastern Conference this season.

The performances of both clubs heading into the final suggest that our prediction for a 2-2 draw looks increasingly likely, as both teams scored and over 2.5 goals were produced in three of Atalanta United’s last six and three of Toronto’s last four matches.

We’re confident that a double chance bet on Toronto will payout this Thursday and we have predicted a final scoreline of 2-2. Toronto have a good record against their hosts, with just one defeat in their six previous meetings, and haven’t lost any of their last three games on the road. Atlanta United have performed well this season but they don’t look the force they were when they claimed the MLS Cup last year and we believe there best chance of progressing through to the MLS Cup is via an extra-time win or through a dreaded penalty shoot-out.
